This garden was a backyard makeover that called for a feminine palette with a classic feel.  The existing garden was sloped, overgrown and unattractive.  The client's main entertaining area looks over this part of the garden so we created a structured and pretty garden that still felt modern and balanced.  

Mass planting of ligularia and hydrangea fill the large voids at the rear of the garden under the  shade from the kowhai, whilst at the side are michelia and dichroa for flowers throughout the year.  The whole garden is softened with edging of ornamental grasses.  We created a gravel path with two raised beds for the client to grow edibles and a statement arch to provide vertical form as the garden is mostly looked at from above.
